Yorba Linda & Beauty Apes, Cakeshop

We had the chance to check out the Yorba Linda and Beauty Apes show at Cakeshop last night. A perfect balance. Yorba kept it slow, sludgy, stoned, and long while Beauty Apes hit hard, packing fast paced stoned out riffs into two minute songs. After Yorba finished out their set with "Smashing Big Ones" I heard someone yell out "epic!"

Settlers

Brooklyn band Settlers posted a few rough tracks on their myspace page. We expect huge things from these boys. Medieval folk with a touch of bluegrass laced with harmony vocals? How can you go wrong?
